Happy Birthday Uncle Ra Ra

On Saturday we hosted a birthday party for the boys beloved Uncle Brad aka Uncle Ra Ra. The boys were very excited for the party and as always, they loved to help in the kitchen.
One of our most important jobs was making a chocolate cake with
chocolate frosting which was specifically ordered by the birthday boy.

Always true to our nature, there was much adventure along the way. I am not sure if I have mentioned this on the blog before, but Max LOVES our Kitchen aide mixer. If anyone is using it, look out because Max will be right in the middle of that action. So as making the cake was a family affair Max was "helping" me make the frosting. I added some of the ingredients and he turned on the mixer for me. I added the cocoa powder and then turned away for one second and BLAMMO, Max turned the mixer on high and the kitchen was covered with chocolate powder. Everyone got very quiet, with the exception of Max's exclamation of "UH OH!"

No problem, kitchen was cleaned up and we were onto getting the frosting onto the cake. Both of the boys enjoyed this part of the process because they got to lick the beater clean. Dan arrived home from the store with the requested spinkles and all was going smoothly. Suddenly Dan yells, "NO!!!!" and I turn to find that Max had reached up and taken the bottle of sprinkes off the counter and decided to decorate the carpet.

In the end we ended up with this beauty and man was it tastey!
By the way, those sprinkles made it onto the cake before the rest hit the floor : )

Oak Creek

Last weekend we headed up towards White Pass to visit Oak Creek Feeding Station. We got there a little bit early, so the elk were lazing pretty far back from the feeding area, but that didn't stop Dan and Chase from checking out the big boys.

Like father, Like son :)

Meanwhile, this guy took a snooze in the car.

But, he woke up in time to jump in the driver's seat
and pretend to take mom for a spin.

Sundays

I love Sundays. They are usually the slowest day of the week for us and we take full advantage of lounging around in our pjs's, catching up on the chores that didn't quite get done during the week and most of all playing. Max and I made a Costco trip this morning and he picked out these fun towels for Chase and him. They put them on like capes and ran around the house chasing each other all afternoon.

This is serious.....

Chase just said, "Moooommmm, I don't feel good. I have a tummy ache, headache, two canker sores and a red nose." Poor guy, that sounds pretty serious. Sounds like he needs a big dose of TLC!

Yee Haw!

Tonight Uncle Brad, Uncle Mike and Daddy took Chase, Joe and Savannah to watch bull riding. Chase was looking forward to it all week and he was ready to get into his cowboy gear tonight.

Check out his beauty. Grandma Sandy made a trip to Texas last spring and Chase asked her to bring him back a pair of cowboy boots. Grandma nailed the request and Chase loves his boots! Green is his favorite color afterall.

Jammin....

Friday morning jam session with the b-bros : )

Good news....

Max is feeling better AND he is up to his old tricks again.

This guy....

This guy is curious. He can not resist opening every cabinet, drawer or closet to see what is in there. He also can't pass up any opportunity to push a button or in the case of our DVD/VCR combo machine see how many things can be shoved inside. The other day, we discovered a remote control, drum stick, DVD and toy turtle all jammed into the VCR slot. Nice!

In other news, we found out today that Max has RSV. This is a sad day in that our baby is a pretty darn sick kiddo, but on the bright side it wasn't so bad he needed a hospital stay which was the case with his older brother a couple of years back. We are keeping our guy hydrated and applying lots of hugs and kisses. Here's hoping for a very quick recovery.

Hmmm.....

We were driving in the car the other night and out of the blue Chase declares, "I don't want to grow up." It is not the first time I have heard this and usually when I probe he says things like he doesn't want to leave his mom and daddy or he loves our house. So as we were driving along I asked Chase, "why don't you want to grow up?" To which he replies, "because I don't want a woman." This took me off guard. I said, "why don't you want a woman, Chase?" And he replied, "because they are just too beautiful."
Whoa! Where did that come from?!
