She's crafty

So I don't know if it is being pregnant or what, but lately I have been a little crafty. I found the template for an elephant on one of the blogs that I read and BINGO, we have a theme for the baby's room. I didn't stop there though. My friend Sarah helped me pick out some elephant clip art and that is how I created my little friend in the first picture. I think he needs a little something more, but I am not sure what. What do you think? If you peaked at the template, you probably noticed it was for just one elephant, but I thought it would be cute to make our whole family, so this is my version. It makes me smile.

And because I wanted to do something fun for my big boy's room, I dreamed up this fellow. Chase has been into robots lately and this was a simple and fun project. I began with a canvas and started laying down blue painters tape and suddenly this guy popped out. A coat of red and he was done. Chase seems to like him and that is what is the most important.

Finally, we have a problem. If you walk into Chase's room, this is what you will see over the closet. Chase points it out to us about three times a day. We CAN NOT figure out how to get his S to stay up. We have tried more tape which does fine with the other letters, but the S always falls down. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Here is the culprit!

A beautiful weekend...

Last weekend was Mother's Day and I got to choose the agenda for the whole weekend. Saturday morning we headed down to the Bugni Family River House, one of my favorite places to be. The river house has been in Dan's family for about 20 years and it is one of those places that you can just go and get away from it all. Our own personal Margaritaville, but with no margaritas for me this summer : ) Chase played by the water for hours....see this treasure that he found.

This is Chase doing a little fishing.

Do you know how cold this water is in May? He had no probelms with it at all.

Look at this view....truely amazing.
We finished our weekend off at my folks house with a really nice brunch and a lot of family to visit with. I couldn't ask for a nicer Mother's Day Weekend.

The ZOO!

Hey Chase....did you like the zoo?
Thumbs up Mom!

The best ride at the zoo.

You should have seen the real thing!

Riding on the dragon.

Giraffes are mom's favorite.
Last Friday our plans changed last minute and we took advantage of the opportunity to hit the Woodland Park Zoo. It was Chase's first trip and he thought it was pretty great. I wish I would have gotten a couple of pictures of Chase checking out the plants, rocks and sticks because he was just if not more excited about those than the animals. By the end of the afternoon we were all pooped out, but it was a great day.

My mom retired!

It is hard for me to believe, but my mom is done working at DSHS. I have been wondering the halls there since I was three years old and though I know it is my mom's retirement, I feel a little bit of an era passing too. My mom's friends, Jill and I threw my mom a fantastic retirement party that was really fun. Lots of friends, dancing and fun was had by all.
Teagen read my mom the cutest poem that she wrote herself and Chase kept Grandma busy on the dance floor. These kids can boogie!

Chase was very proud of Grandma and clapped for her at a lot during her office party.
